Free-Journal.com - CBE—Life Sciences Education (LSE), a free, online quarterly journal, is published via the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB). The journal was launched in spring 2002 as Cell Biology Education—A Journal of Life Science Education. The ASCB changed the name from the journal in spring 2006 to better reflect the breadth of the readership as well as the scope of the submissions.

LSE publishes peer-reviewed articles on life science education on the K–12, undergraduate, and graduate levels. The ASCB believes that learning in biology encompasses diverse fields, including math, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, as well as the interdisciplinary intersections of biology with one of these fields. Within biology, LSE focuses about how students are introduced onto the study of life sciences, along with approaches in cell biology, developmental biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, and proteomics.

LSE is written by and serve professionals engaged in biology teaching all told environments, including faculty at large research universities who teach but don't view teaching as their primary mission, along with those whose teaching is the most important focus with their careers, in primarily undergraduate institutions, museums and outreach programs, junior and community colleges, and K–12 schools.

All issues are published electronically. One print issue, highlighting one of the best content from the year, is published each winter in support of public information efforts.

Since its inception, LSE is supported partially by the grant coming from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI).
